The OHP Boilermaker Bay Expansion is located at Area C Minesite and was expanded due to the area not being sufficient for the current volume of work required and an overhead crane to support task execution.

The scope of work included items such as:

  • the expansion of the existing Boilermaker Bay by a further two (2) bays including concrete slabs, structural steel, purlins, girts, insulation / cladding, gutters & downpipes, and roller doors
  • the associated demolition of existing Boilermaker Bay structures, electrical, and services
  • supply and installation of a new overhead 15T/5T bridge crane and associated support and access structures
  • the supply and installation of Mechanical Workshop Equipment: Vertical Milling Machine, Radial Drill, Floor and Pedestal Grinders, Ban Saw, Plasma Cutter, Heavy Duty, Work Benches & Cutting Bench
  • the supply and installation of Service outlet stations: Compressed Air, Raw Water, Oxygen & Acetylene, Power / Welding Outlets
  • relocation, expansion of existing utilities including raw water / fire water, potable water and compressed air and tie-in to existing pipework of Workshop
  • the design, supply and installation of a fume and dust extraction and natural ventilation systems
  • installation of reticulated industrial oxygen gas and dissolved acetylene system
  • design, supply and installation of reticulated oxygen gas and dissolved acetylene emergency stop and venting system
  • the installation of new welding / cutting gas cylinder storage facility (pre-cast concrete structure fabricated on site)
  • supply and installation of a Feeder Module and new power distribution board and new cabling, small power / lighting
  • re-routing of existing cabling from existing Distribution Board to the new distribution board
  • the installation of new fire detection zones and integration into the existing workshop building Fire System
  • the revision of the existing lighting system
  • Testing and commissioning works
