The Sulphuric Acid plant is situated in the town of MT Isa which is located in central Queensland, at the time of construction it was anticipated that the plant would produce 4,500 litres of sulphuric acid per hour from the sulphur dioxide being omitted into the atmosphere from the existing mining operations.
Scope of works included survey set out, piling, detailed excavation, formwork, reinforcing, placing structural concrete, cast-in concrete embedment’s, HD bolts and structural backfill.

  • Piers 900mm diameter x 35metre deep to underside of pile caps,
  • Dirty gas pile caps, foundations, pedestals, ground slabs and retaining walls,
  • Hot gas pile caps, foundations, pedestals, ground slabs and retaining walls,
  • Clean gas pile caps, foundations, pedestals, ground slabs and retaining walls,
  • Sulphuric acid process plant foundations, pedestals, ground slabs, retaining walls and sumps,
  • Sulphuric acid tank foundations, ring beams, ground slabs and retaining walls,
  • Plant site road works, kerbing, drainage and 40mm ashphalt surface.
